Just a quick one today, to celebrate the beautiful creatures who are our mothers.
It’s true what they say isn’t it. I think we only start to really appreciate our mums the older we get.
As a child our mums are just there. There to read us a bedtime story and tuck us in, there to kiss out cuts better the first time we fall off a bike, and there to make our packed lunches day in day out throughout our school life.
Nowadays, the older I’ve become, the more I’ve realised that my mum is all these things and so much more.
Councillor, advisor, lecturer, doctor, and above all, friend.
My friend who is there for me 24 hours a day, doesn’t judge, or moan or make me feel silly; simply listens, offers the BEST advice and makes me feel loved no matter how cranky and hard work I can be! LOL
My friend whose favourite medical advice is to ‘take 2 paracetamols and a glass of water’ – a cure for anything apparently!
My friend who seriously has the biggest heart going, and shares so much love between my brother, sisters and I, looking after, caring and guiding us, even more so as we’ve grown up!
My Facebook is absolutely brimming with lovely messages of people celebrating their mums. Normally I hate this kind of thing, PDA makes me cringe.
However, it felt different today, (maybe I’m going soft in my old age). We see so much crap clogging our newsfeeds that it was actually nice to wake up on a Sunday morning, and feel the love.
Soppy stuff over!!
Happy Mother’s Day guys! xx
